Fresh START
by Noah Hinton
They say a fresh start is always good. That’s true, but the work involved is always hard. As a school, we have worked for the past few years getting into a building of our own. Kankakee Trinity Academy has been a Christian non-denominational school since 1981. It is fitting that on the 30th anniversary we get our own new building. We have been praying for this building for the last few years, because before this time, we have been resident in multiple churches. Our school started off in Immanuel Baptist, and we then moved to Open Bible Center, but still used Immanuel for our second through fifth graders. When we moved out of Immanuel Baptist, one of our Bible teachers, Pastor Ben Seyden and his church allowed the high school to take up residence for a time at his church, Riverside Baptist. As a high school, we stayed in his church for 1½ years. Since we acquired our building, we had been waiting patiently for our new school to be completed. There were many things that still needed to be done; fix the roof, install a sprinkler system, re-tile the floors, paint, and so much more. We still have much to do, but we are happy to have a home.
All of our teachers are excited to have a new building. One of our teachers, Mrs. Bennett had some thoughts about our new building. Her first comment when asked what she thought about the new building was, “I love it, I love it, I love it.” She says that it felt like a “new start” and now it “feels like a school.” When asked what she liked about it, she said that she could decorate things the way she wanted to and now she can, “have ‘everything’ here.” Then when asked about what she would like to have that we don’t already, she replied that she would, “love to have a library.”
It's great to have a fresh start and a new school!
